Peggy Jo Schafer (Blessing), age 87, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on February 27, 2026, at Riverside Hospital.
Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Levi; her father, William “Bill” (Betty) Blessing; and her granddaughter, Grace.
She was especially close to her beloved Granny, Daisy May Frick, who taught her how to be an amazing cook. Peggy would spend hours in the kitchen making everyone’s favorites for their birthdays.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jack Lee Schafer; her daughters, Wendy Thompson, Kristi (Mike) Matoszkia, and Jackie (Kevin) Gammell; her son, David (Natalie) Schafer; and her stepson, Mike (Lori) Schafer. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jami (Corey) Poth, Kaleb (Olivia) Matoszkia, Kyle (Lindsey) Matoszkia, Justin (Rachel) Young, Lauren (Michael) Della Flora, Tiffany (Dean) Rabaiov, Logan Schafer, and Anthony Holfinger; several great-grandchildren; and her longtime friends, Dick and Sandy Mills.
Peggy worked as a realtor for Century 21 Joe Walker Realty for over 30 years. She truly loved her job and cherished all the people she met along the way. Before becoming a realtor, she sold Avon and babysat for several children, many of whom she stayed in contact with over the years. Through every chapter of her life, Peggy built lasting friendships and touched countless lives.
Peggy loved crafts, sewing, and playing games. Spending time with family, especially hosting birthday parties, holidays, and dinners, was her passion. She was a devoted wife, mom, stepmom, Grandma (Mawmaw), great-grandma, and friend.
