Peggy Sue Greene Cox, 72, of Oakboro, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at her home.
Sue was born May 5, 1951, in North Carolina to the late Erastus Greene and the late Margie McCoy Greene. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Joyce G. Morgan, and Audie G. Joplin, and brother Jeffrey Greene.
The graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at 2:30 pm at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Monroe officiated by Rev. Joe Query. Burial will immediately follow at the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery at 6223 Love Mill Road Monroe.
Survivors include husband of 52 years, Richard Gordon Cox of the home; son, Scotty Richard (Shannon) Cox; grandchildren, Bradley Hahn, Jude Hahn, and Jessica Hahn; great-grandson, Corey Hahn; and siblings, Charles Greene, Margaret G. Baucom, and Ercel G. Duncan; and her dog Sparky.
Sue enjoyed reading, gardening, quilting, collecting cookbooks, and caring for children. Sue had an infectious laugh and a way to tell a story that always included that laugh. Sue's best times were spent with her dog Sparky, her husband Richard, her son Scotty, and her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
