Penny Barr Obituary
Penny was born November 6, 1956 in Edina, MO, the daughter of William and Betty JoAnn (Mitchell) Wilcox. She was united in marriage to Mike Barr on March 17, 1995.
Penny is survived by her sisters, Dina Quinley (J.O.) of Columbia, MO and Linda Beldon (Doug) of Shelbina, MO; nephew, Lance Maddex (Melissa); nieces, Rhian Farrier (Jordan), Randi Beldon, and Rikki Beldon; great nephews and niece, Chase Maddex, Raelynn, and Kyle; and her special family, including Heather and Gene Boyles, Megan Shores and Caroline Million; and grand friends, Rachel and Hannah Shores, and Aizlynn, Zane, and Lennox Million.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mike Barr on February 24, 2005; mother-in-law, Betty Barr; and special dog, Dottie.
Penny was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shelbina, MO. She began her journey in health care in 1971 as an EMT in Shelby County, then as a paramedic, a nurse and then nurse practitioner. She not only served her community but her country as well, as a Medical Services Specialist in Desert Storm/Desert Shield with the United States Air Force Reserves and retired as a Master Sergeant. She recently retired from the Samaritan Hospital and Total Family Health Care for over 21 years.
Penny enjoyed crocheting, traveling with Mike and her Air Force buddies, fishing, tending to her garden and flowers, and collecting chicken figurines. Penny loved camping by the lake and with her Scamp Club. She always looked forward to attending kids sporting events and school activities.
Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Clarence, MO with Deacon Larry Mitchell officiating. A visitation will be held Friday, December 26, 2025 from 4 pm to 7pm at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will follow the service in the Maplewood Cemetery of Clarence, MO.
Memorials can be made to North Shelby for a scholarship fund (payable to Heather Boyles).
