Penny L. Bodnar, 82, of Perry, passed suddenly on Saturday, August 9, 2025. She was born on July 6, 1943 to Louis and Elizabeth "Bettie" (Ashton) Sabo in Martins Ferry, Ohio.

Penny graduated from Riverside High School in 1961, and was employed as a secretary receptionist for 10 years at the Madison YMCA. She later became the proud owner of PennyLane Gift Shoppe on Lane Road in Perry, Ohio. She had a passion for her shop, and loved talking to her customers, going on merchandise-buying trips, and dressing her concrete geese in all kinds of festive outfits. She was married to her husband of 59 years, Frank "Buck" Bodnar Jr. They lived together on Townline Road in Madison for 33 years before moving to Perry in 2001. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, watching the birds, and watching Jeopardy with the grandkids. She was known to be an avid baker, and loved spending holidays with family.

Penny is survived by her loving husband, Frank; her children, Rebecca Jane Bodnar (Daren Whetstone), Jeffrey Andrew Bodnar (Yrral Belanger), Gretchen (Daniel Jr.) Jekutis; grandchildren, Jaren (Trinity) Bodnar, Gavin and Melina Costello, and Eva Bodnar-Whetstone; sister, Connie Sue (Ron) Hamilton; and many beloved cousins and in-laws. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, August 13, from 5-7PM at Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison OH, 44057. An informal committal with family and friends will take place on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 10AM in Perry Cemetery.
