Mrs. Penny King Dalton, age 77 of Mount Airy, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Dalton was born on March 10, 1948, in Patrick County, Virginia to the late Clyde Anthony and Virginia King King. After high school, Penny began her studies at Bristol Sullivan School of Nursing in Bristol Tennessee, where she received her License Practical Nursing degree. She began her career as nurse in the Cardiac Unit, at the local hospital in Bristol. Later, she returned to the Mount Airy area and worked as the facility director for Colonial Care Nursing Home in Mount Airy for many years, before retiring. Mrs. Dalton was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving is her nephew, Stephen Douglas “Doug” King and wife Marlaina; a sister-in-law, Naomi Ruth King; special friend Linda Crawford. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dalton was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin Dalton; a son, George Anthony Trivette; a nephew, Melvin Glenn King, and a brother, Clyde "Perk" Perkins. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. A private family inurnment will be held at King Family Cemetery, in Ararat, Virginia. No formal visitation will be held. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
