Penny Dodson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 31, 2025.
ODESSA - August 25, 1962 - October 20, 2025

At 63 years of age, Penny has passed peacefully, from her home in Odessa, TX, into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Penny was born in Odessa, TX to Grady Olen Dodson and Sarah Helen Dodson. (Bryant) The youngest of four children, Penny was a self-proclaimed wild child; craving fun & excitement, moving often, just living for the friends and memories she would make, with each change of scenery.

Penny later settled in Tye, TX, where she lived close to her mom, sister & nephew for several decades. In 2019, when declining health prompted her mom's return to Odessa, Penny also moved back, along with her 3 dogs, 3 cats, & 4 kittens, so she could remain close by her mama.

While Penny did not have children, she had 'adopted' every dog or cat she found in need of a home. She said the unconditional love she shared with them and the joy they brought to her life, felt to her as if they were all her children.

She had recently begun making donations to the All Kind Animal Initiative, a No Kill Animal Shelter, to help them accomplish their mission.

Penny is predeceased by her: Father, Grady Olen Dodson, of Carlsbad, NM. Mother, Sarah Helen Dodson, of Odessa, TX. Sister, Helen Louise Dodson, of Abilene, TX.

Penny is survived by her: Nephew, Christopher Grady Dodson, of Abilene TX, with wife, Kellie & daughters, Jayden & Emma. Brother, Bruce Olen Dodson, of Odessa. Niece, Tabatha Jane Quick, of Odessa, with husband, Brandon & children, Alina & Bryce. Nephew, Kenneth Olen Dodson, of Odessa. Nephew, Rustan Dave Dodson, of Odessa, with wife Naticia & children Natessa & Grady. Nephew, David Shayne Dodson, of Odessa with wife Brandy & bonus sons Vincent & Tanner.

Penny's dear friend, Lisa Winkcompleck will organize a memorial to celebrate Penny's life, with her friends in Tye, TX.

Penny's family will gather for a memorial to celebrate her life, in Odessa, TX.

In lieu of flowers, Penny's memory would best be honored by making a donation to the All Kind Animal Initiative, or to any No Kill Animal Shelter.
