It is with great sadness that we announce that Penny Mae Ferree, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, passed away on September 12, 2025, at the age of 60.

Born on April 19, 1965, to Mitchell and Elizabeth Willett, Penny devoted her life to caring for others, both professionally and personally. She worked in healthcare, where her compassion, strength, and dedication made a lasting difference in the lives of those she served.

In 2022, Penny married Greg Ferree. Their bond was one of deep affection, friendship and joy, and together they built a blended family filled with laughter, love, and countless cherished memories.

Penny was the proud and loving mother of James Cook (Amanda), Brian Cook (Anna), and Valarie Leaman (Chris), and the devoted stepmother to her "bonus" children, Kyle Ferree (Amber) and Amanda Kirksey (Kris). Her heart was fullest when surrounded by her grandchildren-Mitchell, Kinley, Bjorn, Charlotte, Jennifer, Hunter, Gunner, Finn, Cade, and KodaMae-who brought her endless pride and happiness.

She is also survived by her brother, Mitchell Willett, and sister, Carol Edwards, as well as her beloved dog Brandy, who rarely left her side.

Penny had a gift for making everyone feel like family. She loved trips to the beach, cheering on her grandchildren from the sidelines, and spending time surrounded by loved ones. Her love for animals, her warmth, and her beautiful smile will never be forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Penny on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Brinsfield Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m.

Penny's legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
