Penny Hersha Obituary

Penny graduated from Temple High School in 1967, and later attended Lubbock Christian College. She spent 30 years in the Houston area until moving to Temple where she has resided for the past 18 years. Penny cared so much for others; so much so that she was a foster parent to 186 children total. She also made a career in home health as well. Penny was a beloved member of the Celebration Singers of the First Baptist Church in Temple; this group would travel to nursing homes and sing for the patients. She loved collecting peacocks and roosters and enjoyed traveling and shopping in her spare time. Penny will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her late three husbands Johnny Kelsey, Jerry Schmidlin, Thomas Hersha, son Brian Schmidlin, and parents Wallace and Hazel.
Penny leaves behind to cherish her memory her sister Joan Smith Marek, daughter Stacy Antee, niece Stephanie Venzor, nephew Joe Marek III, and cat Dozer.
Services in honor of Penny will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery at 10 am on Wednesday, June 28th, 2023.
Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with these arrangements.
