Penny F. Reed, age 82, of Battle Creek, passed away Monday October 13, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born October 24, 1942, in Apollo, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John W. and Velma C. (Butler) Myers. Penny graduated from Springfield High School and retired from Battle Creek Health System where she had worked for over 20 years. Family meant everything to Penny, and she devoted her time to them. On September 15, 1962, Penny married Jerry R. Reed in Battle Creek. Jerry preceded her in death on January 9, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Mary Lou Davis and Jean Swartz, and a brother Walter Rush. Penny is survived by three children: Mike Reed, Jerilynn (Joe) DeMott and Ryan (Jonna) Reed; five grandchildren: Joseph (John Groundwater) DeMott, Justin DeMott, Stephanie Reed, Braden Spear and Ethan Morris; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters: Patricia (Donnie) Speck, Gloria Burdette and Nancy Rush; two brothers: Don (Donna) Myers and Jim “Butch” (Chris) Rush; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to the caring staff at Senior Care Partners P.A.C.E. for the kindness shown to Penny and the family. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Pastor Cheryl Jones of RHEMA Word Outreach Center officiating. Interment will follow the service at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
