Penny Sue (Nichols) Simms, 73, of Blacklick, Ohio passed away peacefully on January 7, 2024. She was born on December 22, 1950 in Columbus, Ohio, eldest daughter of the late William Edward and the late Dolores Louise Bort Nichols. Penny was a 1969 graduate from Whitehall Yearling High School; a member of Eastpointe Christian Church since December 24, 1973; and a family historian, researching genealogy since 1977. Penny is survived by a loving husband of 50 years, Stephen; son, Benjamin Earle (Janet) Simms of Westerville, OH; three grandsons, Joseph Earle, Philip Earle, and David Earle Simms; sister, Joyce (Richard) Harkless of Pataskala, OH; brother Patrick (Nancy) Nichols of Pickerington, OH; nieces, April (Jason Martin), Shelley (Trevor) Butch, Sarah (Jeremy) Dempe and nephews, Jason Harkless, Matthew (Kathleen) Harkless, Aaron (Hannah) Nichols, and Michael Nichols; and numerous great-nieces and nephews; also sisters-in law Lynette (Richard) Whistler of Greens Fork, IN and Lorraine (Calvin) Covington of Clemmons, NC; niece Emily (Chris Seals); nephew Glen (Heather) Tuttle. She was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law Joseph Franklin Simms, Jr and mother-in-law Carol Delores (Gheen) Simms. Private burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio. Family will receive friends at a public memorial service, February 17, 2024 at 10:30am at Eastpointe Christian Church, 745 N. Waggoner Rd., Blacklick, Ohio officiated by Audra Norman, Connections Pastor. In lieu of flowers gifts in memory can be given to Lifeline Christian Mission, PO Box 2288, Monument CO 80132.
