Penny Simpson Obituary

1945-2025

Mrs. Penny Gardner Simpson, age 80, of Arlington, VA a beloved mother to 3 children, passed away Saturday morning, July 26, 2025, at her residence. She was born April 9, 1945, daughter of the late Mabel Maffett Paska and Charles Godfrey Paska.

Penny is survived and missed by her loving husband Robert M Simpson of 59 years, and their children, Barbara Quinn, Rachael Simpson, and Jake Simpson. Forever cherished and remembered by her grandchildren, Charles, Elijah, Danielle and Zachary. Siblings and their families; Terry Paska and his wife Susie Allen.

She attended Wakefield High School of Arlington (Class of 1962) and St Andrews University of NC, studying Theology. Penny worked for the Department of Defense, before enjoying 6months in Germany as a Navy wife, followed by 33 years as a dedicated and highly valued employee for Arlington County Public Schools – retiring in 2012.

Penny had an unquenchable thirst for colonial history and arts, making Williamsburg, VA her home away from home. But she took special joy in her passion for Antique Textile & Collectibles, resulting in the formation of her award-winning business Country Christmas.
