Perci L. Moore, 57, of Emporia, Kansas, passed away on September 26, 2025. He was born on January 31, 1968, in Jackson, Mississippi, and carried his Southern roots proudly throughout his life ultimately making Emporia his home.

Perci was a devoted husband and partner to his wife of 23 years, Melissa, with whom he built a life grounded in love, strength, and resilience. He was a proud and caring father to his children: Mercedes Craney, Jennifer Hill, Monique Moore-Ashley, Justice Moore, Devin Moore, and Makayla Moore. His love also extended to his grandchildren—Drake, Ezabella, Zakary, Blythe, and Amara—along with several step-grandchildren who each held a special place in his heart.

Perci was a dedicated member of the USD 253 Emporia Public Schools custodial staff, where his hard work, reliability, and friendly spirit earned him the respect of colleagues and students alike. Beyond his daily work, he had a deep passion for training athletes of all ages, inspiring and motivating others to push beyond their limits. His drive to see others grow—whether in sports or in life—reflected his generous heart and belief in the potential of those around him.

He is survived by his siblings Fredell Moore, Reginald Moore, Jacquelyn Kournegy, and Panchico Matthews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Rebecca Chatman.

Perci was known for his strong will, honesty, and deep sense of self. He lived boldly and spoke his truth without hesitation, yet he loved deeply and genuinely. His strength was matched by his compassion—he encouraged others to rise to their potential and instilled lasting values in those fortunate enough to know him.

With a heart for people, Perci had an extraordinary way of making others feel seen, heard, and valued. He dedicated himself to lifting others up, always showing up for those he believed in. His greatest joy came from watching others succeed, and his encouragement and wisdom will continue to guide the many lives he touched.

Perci’s legacy lives on through the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the countless people he inspired. His memory will be forever cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
