He was branch manager with Hoffman & Hoffman, Inc. in Columbia, South Carolina, for 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, William Bartholomew, his first wife, Sally Bartholomew, and his mother-in-law, Ruth Neeley Courtney. He is survived by his wife, Kay Courtney Bartholomew, his sister, Judy Bartholomew (Birmingham, AL), his sisters-in-law, Brenda Bartholomew (Hartselle, AL), Sally (Tony) Shealy (Columbia, SC), his sons, Matthew Bartholomew (Lugoff, SC), Karl (Suzane) Bartholomew (Sugarland, TX), Steven (Jill) Bartholomew (Raleigh, NC), Lin (Tricia) Bartholomew (Wilmington, DE), his grandchildren, Ryan (Kaitlin) Bartholomew, Jessica (Travis) Jones, Phillip (Taylor) Bartholomew, Christy, Hannah, and Brenna Bartholomew, great grandchildren, Chase, Kendall, Landon, and Emma Bartholomew, and Benjamin Jones, along with nieces and nephews, many friends, and good neighbors, The Coreys.
Dave was an Auburn War Eagle and a University of South Carolina Gamecock, as all his sons attended the University of South Carolina. He loved traveling the country in his motor coach with his family and spending time at their place on Hilton Head Island. He and Kay were judges with the Kansas City Barbecue Society and enjoyed many trips around the country judging barbecue contests. He was an excellent cook and grill master. He lived a long and happy life.
Kay wishes to thank her niece, Kimberly Diveley, for assisting with appointments and all the things that go into caring for a loved one through cancer. The family is also thankful for MUSC Hospice of Kershaw County for their care, especially Nurse Diane Sergeant and CNA, Alisha Carey.
Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
