Perfecto Arocho, age 86, of Camuy, Puerto Rico, and longtime resident of California, entered eternal rest on February 28, 2026.

He was born on April 19, 1939, in Camuy, Puerto Rico, to Clemencia Rosado Arocho and Gerardo Arocho. He was the eighth of thirteen children, raised with strong Puerto Rican values rooted in faith, family, humility, and hard work.

Perfecto was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Gloria Nieves Arocho, with whom he shared a lifetime of commitment, partnership, and love. Together they built a home grounded in Catholic faith and family tradition.

He was a proud father to his daughters, Gloria Arocho Lopez (Nelson Lopez) and Elba Arocho Esquivel (Jeremy Esquivel). His sons, David Arocho and Gerardo Arocho, have gone to rest before him.

He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Veronica Lara, Demetrio Coronado, Jazmin Lopez, and Anthony Moreno; and his great-grandchildren: Makaila Coronado, Isabella Lara, and Ezekiel Lara.

Perfecto dedicated 30 years of faithful employment to Langendorf Bakery in the City of Commerce, California, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and quiet perseverance.

In 2021, Perfecto was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. With courage, faith, and determination, he faced his illness with strength and entered remission in 2022. He proudly survived cancer - a testament to his resilience, faith, and enduring spirit.

A lifelong Catholic, he was an active member of Nativity Catholic Church. He participated in the Spanish prayer group, Grupo de Oración, and served faithfully within the church community. His faith was not only professed but lived - through prayer, service, and devotion to God.

Perfecto deeply loved decorating his home during the Christmas season - a tradition he embraced with joy and pride. He carefully hung lights, displayed the Three Wise Men, and lovingly placed Baby Jesus in the manger. Puerto Rican Christmas traditions filled his home with music, laughter, and the sound of the cuatro - a traditional four-stringed, guitar-like instrument widely played throughout Latin America. Its bright, melodic tone is central to traditional Christmas and folk music, and its sound brought warmth and cultural pride into his home.

The aromas of pasteles, arroz con gandules, lechón asado, and his famous homemade coquito completed the celebration. His coquito became a treasured family gift, shared generously each year as a symbol of his warmth and hospitality.

He was also affectionately known as "Cookie Monster." A cookie jar permanently rested on the dining room table, and every time he walked by, he would reach in for a chocolate chip cookie without hesitation. He especially loved chocolate chip cookies - and coffee was his daily companion, enjoying no fewer than six cups a day. These simple pleasures reflected his joyful spirit and appreciation for life's small comforts.

Above all, Perfecto was a man of strength, dignity, humor, and deep love for his family. He lived a life rooted in faith, guided by humility, and sustained by devotion to those he cherished.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and sincere gratitude to all who offered loving prayers, support, and encouragement throughout Perfecto Arocho's journey. Your kindness, presence, and faith meant more than words can express.

There will be a visitation held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 for Perfecto at Nativity Catholic Church followed by a funeral mass at 11:30 am. There will be no interment services. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather for a repass at the residence of Gloria Arocho Lopez, located at 2647 Ridgetop Way, Valrico, FL. All are welcome to join us for refreshments and a light lunch as we come together in remembrance and fellowship.

He leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, tradition, and love that will continue through the generations.
