Perry Hughes Simpson, 80, of
Cross Hill, SC went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Born on May 17, 1945, in
Ware Shoals, SC, to the late William Alex and Cynda Hughes Simpson, he was the husband of Frances Gray Simpson for 54 years.
A 1963 graduate of Clinton High School, Perry served in the US Navy from 1965-1969. He was an elder of Liberty Springs Presbyterian Church (PCA) in
Cross Hill, SC. Perry enjoyed hard work right up until his final days.
Self employed, Perry grew up on a dairy farm and was a young entrepreneur, owning various businesses from age 14 including a worm farm, a used car business, land clearing, rental properties, and a beef cattle farm.
These various endeavors gave him many opportunities to help those in need and to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Perry confessed to be a sinner deserving the wrath and curse of God, but trusted in the finished work of Christ for his salvation.
As the family was preparing the obituary they came across in his hand writing, "It just dawned on me that one of the biggest joys of my life was helping others. If anything good is to be said about me, give credit to the God of creation- He deserves credit for any good that I have done."
In addition to his wife Frances, he leaves behind two daughters, Shannon (David) Milligan of Greer, SC; Leah (Jim) Gaston of Franklin, NC; and son Joseph (Hope) Simpson of Cross Hill, as well as 8 grandchildren: Kathleen, Anna, Joshua, Caroline, and Gloria Milligan; Pearl Gaston; and Jackson and Iris Simpson. He is also survived by a brother, Wilford (Jan) Simpson of Florala, AL; a sister, Sue Forsyth of Cross Hill; a brother, Bruce (Dot) Simpson of
Clinton, SC. He is predeceased by a brother-in-law, Don Forsyth, and a sister-in-law, Jackie Simpson.
