Peter F. Alward, 64, of Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, November 12, 2017, in Mayo Clinic and Hospitals, Rochester, Minnesota.
A celebration of Peter's life will be held the weekend following Thanksgiving. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2017, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 25, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Riverside United Methodist Church, 712 16th Street, Moline, with The Rev. Bill Adams officiating. Immediately following the service, friends are invited to join the family at a luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church or Two Rivers YMCA.
Peter Frederick Alward was born October 5, 1953, in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, to Wallace and Audrey MacLeod Alward. He married Kelly Leonard on March 14, 1981, in Mission, Kansas. He graduated from the College of Wooster, Wooster, Ohio, and the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he also did his residency. He was an orthopedic surgeon with ORA in Moline for 27 years, retiring in 2015..
Peter is survived by his wife, Kelly; two children and their spouses, Emily and Joshua Ramirez of Plantation, Florida, and Eric and Liz Alward of Minneapolis, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Madelyn, Mason, and Myles Ramirez; siblings and spouses, Heather and Terry Irwin of Port Angeles, Washington, Susan and Lloyd O'Dell of Clermont, Florida, Wallace and Kazi Alward of Iowa City, Iowa, and Sarah and Mark Redding of Lucas, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
