Peter M. Angelopoulos

Fitchburg - Peter Angelopoulos, 76, of Fitchburg fondly known by many as "Pistol Pete," passed away April 27th surrounded by loved ones. A true people-person, Peter had the gift of making everyone he met feel like family. His love for life, laughter, and conversation was unmatched, and he never missed an opportunity to share a story or a smile.
A lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and musician Bob Dylan, Peter's passion for sports and music was as strong as his love for his family. He was the devoted husband of Gail Martines, a proud father to his daughter Gina Angelopoulos, his step-daughter Kelly Johnson, her husband Dave and their three daughters Maddy, Chloe and Violet. A cherished grandfather to Olivia Fowler and her fiancé PJ Dupre, and to Mia Fowler. His family was the center of his world, and he loved them fiercely.
Peter was the beloved brother to John "Yenny", his sisters Tina, and Joan. He now reunites in heaven with his predeceased sister Donna, his mother Ena and his Father Thomas. His extended family and countless friends knew him as a warm, spirited presence at the Knights of Columbus, where he spent many happy hours surrounded by his community.
As much as he loved his sports and music, nothing in this world could beat his love for his animals. It's true what they say, a dog is a man's best friend. Lucy, his Labrador was truly his best friend in the entire world. As well as the cats Milo and Ollie.
He will be remembered for all of the work he did for Van Pool, working with special needs children and their families. Nothing gave him greater joy than helping others. He took pride and loved all the children he helped transport, as well as his work he did for Fitchburg State for many, many years.
Peter leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and a life well-lived. His memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege to know him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the stories, smiles, and love he shared with the world.
