Peter John Basha Jr.

Peter John Basha Jr passed away peacefully on July 12, 2022. Peter, or Mr. Pete as many knew him, was born in January 1924 to Emma and Peter Basha Sr in New Orleans, LA. He spent the beginning of his life in Miami, Florida before enlisting in the army in 1942. Peter was in the 172nd Engineer Combat Battalion in World War II. He was a part of the construction of the Bailey Bridge that was used extensively throughout the war. However, none of that mattered much to him after he met his future wife, Olive. Upon returning from the war, Peter worked at his father's restaurant in New Orleans. Olive worked down the street and would always come in for lunch with her coworkers. She started coming in on her own and soon after they were married in 1947 in Cottonport, Louisiana. For 75 years they were virtually inseparable. Olive predeceased him on June 14, 2022. He is survived by his two children Mary (Don) Goodman and Peter (Beth) Basha III, his five grandchildren Don (Amy), Wallace (Kim), Robert, Matthew, and Emma and his three great-grandchildren Acadia, Gabriel, and Hannah. Pete and Olive are now holding hands, watching over their loved ones.
