Peter Louis Becchetti, age 72, of Hibbing, passed away on August 21, 2025. Born on December 23, 1952, Peter was a lifelong resident of Hibbing and a proud graduate of Hibbing High School (Class of 1971). He went on to earn a degree in Commercial Art from the Minneapolis Vocational Institute in 1973, beginning a career as a graphic artist that spanned more than 35 years in printing and advertising. Peter generously shared his creativity with his community. He did the design work for both the Hibbing Bluejacket Anchor emblem and the Hibbing Foundation emblem, and he played an active role in many civic projects. He served on the Hibbing Centennial Committee (1993), was Co-Chair of the Hibbing High School All Class Reunion (2001), and continued his involvement on the Reunion Board of Directors (2014). Peter also gave his time as past president of the Hibbing Kiwanis Club and as a member of the Boards of Directors for both the Hibbing Chamber of Commerce and the Hibbing Historical Society. He treasured the days spent at his cabin on Perch Lake, Minnesota, and the many vacations to Honolulu, Hawaii. Peter is survived by his twin sister, Tina Valentini, and brothers Steve (Darri) and David (Donna). He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, who knew him best as “Uncle Pete”: Kari (Jamie), Kellie (Jimmer), Risa (Jesse), Angela (Jason), Mike (Hillary), Danny (Liza), Mariah, Noel (Michael), Veronica (Tom), Brian, and Megan (Nick). He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Helen Becchetti, and his sister Linda (Denny) Maschka. A private family memorial gathering will be held. Memorials are preferred to the Hibbing Foundation in Pete’s honor.
