Pete and I met in 1970 at the Purdue Calumet campus in Hammond Indiana. I was just out of the Navy. He and I met in our freshman year of the EET program at Purdue. We shared many classes together and we did our senior project together. During our junior year, I told him about my wife's Opel Cadet issues and so one day I drove it up to school and we took it over to his home and we tuned it up. Pete was always one to do many things. We had a good time together, always comparing our homework assignments while we were in the student union building. There was a core group of us who would meet prior to class and discussed everything. We could not afford a calculator at the time so we used the old standby, the slide ruler. One of our friends, Les Minor, was lucky enough to afford a calculator with some trig functions which we all marveled at each day.
After we graduated from Purdue, we went our separate ways. I think he worked for Bell Labs and I at Westinghouse. We had a bond and I feel sad that we were not able to maintain some type of communication. I have fond memories of Pete while we were at Purdue Calumet campus. My deepest condolences to his family. Pete was a great friend that I will always remember.
