Peter S. "Pete" Bogusz

Peter "Pete" S. Bogusz, 72, of Naperville, IL passed away on February 5, 2025. He was born on May 7, 1952, in East Chicago, IN, to Peter Bogusz and Genowefa (nee Bender) Bogusz.
Loving husband of 40 years to Susan "Sue" M. (nee Norbut) whom he married on November 3, 1984, at St. Casimir Church in Hammond, IN. Devoted father of Julie Bogusz and Kristen (Craig) Nuzzo. Pete also leaves behind his siblings Helen (Michael) Kolar and Joseph (Sarah) Bogusz, as well as many close friends and extended family members.
Pete was preceded in passing by his parents, Peter and Genowefa Bogusz.
Pete grew up in Hammond, IN and attended Hammond Technical Vocational High School, class of 1970. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University Northwest in Hammond, IN. In 1974, Pete began his working career at Bell Labs. Over the next 50 years, and several name changes, Pete continued to work for the same company. Pete loved his job as a programmer and enjoyed the challenges the work brought his way.
Pete was always there to help his daughters, family, and friends with anything they might need, including constructing a custom table and bar for his daughters. He loved grilling, even going out during snowstorms. Pete also enjoyed exploring new bourbons and Scotches and smoking the occasional cigar with his nephew, John. Despite his initial reluctance to get a dog, he discovered that he couldn't live without one, and all the dogs knew who to go to for a snack (or twelve). His corny jokes, sense of humor, and positivity were well-renowned. As he would have liked to say, "I've gotta be like Tom and Cruise."
In lieu of flowers, donations to The ASPCA in Pete's name would be appreciated.
The Visitation will be held on Thursday February 13, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Friedrich Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540. The Service will be on Friday February 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Naperville Cemetery.
