PETER "PETE" BOUMAN, 77, OF EWING NJ PASSED AWAY (SUDDENLY, PEACEFULLY, AGONIZINGLY SLOW) (SURROUNDED BY HIS LOVING FAMILY, SURROUNDED BY TOOLS) ON 9/22/25 AT SERENITY HOSPICE HAMILTON AFTER HIS BATTLE WITH CANCER. HE LIKED TO TYPE IN ALL CAPS AND ALWAYS LOOKED FOR AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE SOMEONE LAUGH.
BORN ON NOVEMBER 24, 1947, IN AMSTERDAM, HOLLAND, HE WAS PREDECEASED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS WYBREN AND JANNA BOUMAN AND BROTHER JAN BOUMAN.
HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS LOVING WIFE OF 45 YEARS LINDA AND DAUGHTER ERICA. HE ALSO LEAVES A SISTER, ANNA FERRERA, BROTHER-IN-LAW, EDDIE AND NEPHEWS DANNY AND PAUL. FIRST COUSINS PIETER BOOTSMA & WIFE MIEKE AND MARTINA STEPHENS.
ALSO GRIEVING HIS DEATH ARE RELATIVES ON HIS WIFE'S SIDE, LIKE HIS SISTER-IN-LAW, HEATHER, BROTHER IN LAW, SEAN AND NIECES AND NEPHEWS, MEGAN, SETH AND JESSE. ALSO MISSING HIM WILL BE THE FAMILY OF STRAY CATS HE KEPT WELL FED.
A GRADUATE OF EAST ORANGE HIGH SCHOOL AND NEWARK STATE COLLEGE, HE WAS A "SHOP" TEACHER IN IRVINGTON FOR TEN YEARS AND 30 YEARS AT THE HILLSBOROUGH MIDDLE SCHOOL, RETIRING IN 2010.
HE WAS NAMED PLEDGE OF THE YEAR BY HIS FRATERNITY SIGMA THETA CHI.
IN HIS YOUNGER YEARS, HIS HOBBIES INCLUDED FLYING SMALL PLANES, HANG GLIDING, PARACHUTING, AND RIDING HIS MOTORCYCLE. AN ADMITTED "WORKAHOLIC", HE ENJOYED HIS JOB TEACHING KIDS BASIC WOODWORKING. HE WAS ALWAYS READY TO LEND A HAND TO FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS. HIS HOPE WAS ALWAYS TO LEAVE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE.
ALTHOUGH A BELIEVER IN GOD AND HIS PURPOSE FOR THIS EARTH, HE LEFT FORMALIZED RELIGION IN THE LATE 90'S.
