Peter Raymond Elj
Peter Raymond Elj, 48 of Cherry, Minn., passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Monday, November 6, 2023.
He was born on March 6, 1975, in Hibbing, Minn. Peter grew up hunting and fishing in Meadowlands where he attended school. He most recently worked at Frostbite Furniture where he enjoyed his job and coworkers. In his spare time, he liked woodworking and building things. At his home and in the garage with his friends, Peter could fix and or create almost anything, even a hoverboard! An excellent hunter, Peter would always get a deer while hunting with his modified and legal special rifle. He was a patrol leader for Boyscouts for many years where he and his boys would go sailing, camping and canoeing. He and his troop would earn many badges and awards. Peter had a great sense of humor and could use it well no matter the group or situation. Above all, Peter was a great son and fantastic father... His house was always the fun spot to be and hang out with tons of friends and family. He loved his family and adored his grandkids of whom he was so proud to be a grandpa.
Peter is survived by his mother, Carol Tollefsrud; children, Wallace (Aurora) Elj, Andrew (Sophie Temple) Elj and Lillie (Matthew Temple) Elj; grandkids, Kora, Kylee, Kamryn, Aria and Mckenna Elj; best friend, Ernie Smock, and many other dear family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and grandson, Kaidan Jace Elj.
A celebration of Peter's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023, at the Clinton Town Hall.
