I proudly served with Peter when we were both assigned to Lakehurst Navel Air Station at Lakehurst, NJ. We were both army aviators flying from a navy base at the time and became good friends. I will never, never forget Peter, he was one of a kind. Thanks to Uncle Sugar we once flew to his home in Connecticut from Lakehurst just to have dinner. I suppose that after our tours in Vietnam we felt that Uncle Sugar wouldn´t mind our unauthorized use of the aircraft, especially if Uncle Sugar didn´t know. Peter enriched my life and my sincere condolences go out to his family. Rest in peace my brother.

Pete tagged me with the nick name Ruby while we were in Vietnam. My name was Garnett so Pete met me in July and said he would call me Ruby because the Ruby was the July birthstone. The name stuck for that tour.
