Peter Ferris, Jr., 91, of Brighton Lakes Blvd., Boynton Beach, FL, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021, at his home under the care of Hospice.

He was born on November 16, 1929, in Utica, the son of Peter and Helen Dixon Ferris, Sr. He was a graduate of Proctor High School, Class of 1946.

On August 10, 1948, Peter proudly enlisted in the United States Army with the rank of Private First Class. He was honorably discharged on August 9, 1949.

On July 6, 1985, Peter was united in marriage to Diane J. Serour in Old Forge.

Peter was the owner and operator for Peter Ferris and Son Builders in Old Forge for forty-five years, retiring in 1990. He also ran Pete's Hobby Shop in Old Forge and FL for many years. Peter also had his pilot's license for land and sea and owned his own plane for many years.

Peter was a member of the Land and Preserve Council Board, the Polar Bear Ski Club in Old Forge, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 189 in Utica, former chairman of the Old Forge Planning Board, a former President of Mountain RC Modelers in Old Forge, a member of the Palm Beach Skyhawks, a former member of the Board of Directors for the View Center for the Arts and Culture in Old Forge where he ran the antique show for twenty-five years, and a member of the Delta Dart at the South Florida Fair which taught kids how to build model airplanes.

Peter was an avid Miami Heat fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR races.

Surviving besides his loving wife of thirty-five years, Diane; are his children, Peter (Cindy) Ferris, III, of FL, and Christine Ferris, of MD; his stepchildren, Jeffrey (Bridget Parlato) Trueman, of MD, and Kristin (Joseph) Capotosto, of Oneida; five grandchildren, Nicole (Chris) Santiago, Arianna Bush, Hayden Parlato, Jack Capotosto, and Josie Capotosto; a great-grandson, Bentley Ryan Levensailor; a sister, Peggy (Sam) Acee, of Clark Mills; and many nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by a grandson, Ryan J. McConnell on December 16, 2015.
