Peter Thomas Fettig

Peter Fettig, age 62 of Burnsville, passed away with his family by his side, on Monday morning, April 29, 2024, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville.
Peter Thomas Fettig was born March 10, 1962, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, to Arthur E. and Joanne R. (Oelfke) Fettig. He was raised in St. Cloud and graduated from Apollo High School in 1980. He attended St. Cloud State University where he received his Bachelor's degree in Physics and then the University of Dayton (Ohio) where he received his Master's degree in Optical Engineering in 1986.
Following his education he returned to the western suburbs of Minneapolis. Pete worked as an optical engineer here as well as in Seattle, Washington and in Fremont, California. On April 29, 2001, Pete married Valeriya Baybuza. They had their first child in California before returning to Minnesota in 2002 and then welcomed two more children. They eventually settled in Burnsville where Pete worked in asset protection until his health failed in 2017.
Pete was a born again Christian and loved the Lord and his family. He was an involved and dedicated husband and father and was an excellent role model and teacher to his children. He enjoyed traveling - visiting national parks with his family, being outdoors and following sports. He was intelligent, kind, loving and wise. Pete was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife Lera; his children Alex, Liberty and Grace; his sister Becky (John) Siekmeier of Grant; his brother Steve (Katie) of Chaska; his nephews Kaleb, Josh (Alexis) and Harry; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private burial will be in Valley Grove Cemetery, rural Nerstrand, Minnesota.
