FLANAGAN, Peter J. Age 74, of Norwood, formerly of Roslindale, lost his long and courageous battle with ALS, after 16 years, on January 24, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Boston (Roslindale) on October 10, 1951, to Peter M. and Alice B. (Staunton) Flanagan (originally from Ireland). Survived by the mother of his children and dear friend, Donna Flanagan; and children, Melissa Mulhern (Jonathan), Peter Flanagan, Jr. (Erin), James Flanagan (Alexa) and Stephanie (Drew Wojtasinski). Also survived by grandchildren, Noelle, Christopher, Edward, Violet, Hailey, Emma, Jack, Samuel, and Maxwell; and siblings, Mary Flanagan Moran (NJ), Stanton and Kilyop Flanagan (AZ), Margaret Menzies (the late William) (CAN). Survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Ireland, England, Boston, and Chicago. He was fortunate to be cared for at home by dedicated and compassionate aides and nurses led by Ana Uceda and best friend, Paul Desmond. Visiting Hours will be held at the P.E. Murray - F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre St., WEST ROXBURY, on Thursday, January 29, from 4-7pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Friday, January 30, at 10am, followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Roslindale, at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. This morning I randomly thought of and googled an old friend whom I have been out of touch with for 20 years only to learn that at that exact time, he was laying down his father to eternal rest. I was grateful to hear that my old friend and his father had an opportunity in his final days/weeks to discover more about each other and spend precious time together. In creating these memories I am sure that Mr. Flanagan found deeper peace, and that his son will hold onto the words and lessons to help sustain him during the difficult times ahead. May you all find comfort and strength in each other, as your father did in his last days while he waited for his sister. My deepest condolences.

I miss you so much, Peter. You always gave me advice and cared about me so deeply. You would even have the nurse call me to make sure I got home safely,and you were truly like a grandfather to me. I know I am hurting now, but I believe one day I will see you on the other side

Having lost my sister to ALS I offer my deepest condolences to Peter's family. Love his smile &I am amazed at how well people deal with this devastating disease. From the picture Peter had a very sweet young lady caring for him. Rest in peace Peter. Eileen Omalley.
