Peter Flatter

Peter Flatter, age 82, of Chemnitz, Germany passed away at his daughter's family's home on July 11, 2024.
Services will be held in his hometown in Germany. At a later date, there will be a celebration of life with his American family and friends at River Cities Christian Church.
Peter was born May 10, 1942 in Chemnitz, Germany. He was a master electrician and worked in that profession most of his life. After installing wiring and lights, he would test it while saying "let there be light," and usually there would be light!
He was a passionate hobby photographer and a member of photography clubs in his younger years. He did pass that passion on to his daughter, Heike. "Opa" - as his family would call him - was also an avid gardener. He would spend many weekends in his garden community. He took great pride in keeping his garden as a beautiful oasis.
Peter also enjoyed traveling. From Germany, he made it as far east as Lake Baikal in Russia and as far west as Lahaina on Maui, Hawaii.
He is survived by his life partner of 31 years Anita Spillner; son, Jürgen Flatter and Rosi (Selement); daughter, Heike (Flatter) and Danny O'Day; grandchildren; Simon O'Day, Seth O'Day, Ayanda O'Day and Josiah O'Day; sister, Monika; sister-in-law, Sonja Flatter; brother-in-law, Heinz Fröbel and Gabi; friends Thomas and Ilona Fischer and Josephine and Tobias; Hannelore and Bernd Steyer, Istvan 'Bisti' Merczel and wife; and many friends in the O'Day family and back home in Germany.
He was preceded in death by his wife Anni Christa (Fröbel); his parents Alfred Flatter and Frieda (Schemel); his siblings, Elsa, Suse, Ingeburg, Elfriede, Harry, Ruth, Christa, Manfred, and Steffen.
