Peter D. Freymann

May 23, 1940 - January 28, 2026

NORMAL – Peter D. Freymann, 85, of Normal, passed away at 12:23 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at his home surrounded by family.

A private family service will be held at a later date. A public Celebration of Life will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Destihl Brewery, 1200 Greenbriar Drive, Normal, IL 61761. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be left to Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org) or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Peter was born on May 23, 1940 in Holy Cross, Iowa, a son to Virgil Freymann and Beatrice (Kluesner) Freymann. He married Lynn "Pixie" Armstrong on July 16, 1966 in Dubuque, Iowa. Peter proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserve.

Surviving are his wife, Pixie Freymann of Normal; children, John (Kimberly) Freymann of Normal, David (Kim) Freymann of Bloomington, James (Nicole) Freymann of Gainesville, Fla., Robert (Megan) Freymann of Normal, and Jill (Skip) Zayas of Normal; grandchildren, Peter, Ellie, John, Haley, Steven, Alec, and Jack Freymann, Abby and Sarah Zayas; great-grandchildren, Carrie and Bonnie Freymann; brother, Donald (Jan) Freymann of Dubuque, Iowa; sisters, Sharon (Matt) Perry of Libertyville, Ill., and Eileen McAuliffe of Seattle, Wash.; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents.

Peter and Pixie eventually settled in Bloomington-Normal, Ill. where Peter worked for A.Y. McDonald Plumbing and Heating Supply as their branch manager.

Peter enjoyed annual Canada fishing and camping trips with family and friends, spending time outdoors, watching his kids' and grandkids' events, and sharing his unconditional love with his wife, family, and friends. His faith and love for Jesus was the foundation of his extraordinary life.

According to family and friends, Peter will be remembered as a kindhearted, genuine, and "one of a kind" man.

The family would like to thank Emilie and Erin of Carle Hospice for their kind and loving care of Peter and his family.
