Peter Ernest Grethen Bussmann, born on February 8, 1942, in Petaluma, California, to Peter Christian Grethen-Bussmann and Alma Catherine (Tiemann) Bussmann, passed away on May 5, 2025, in Sixes, Oregon.
Peter graduated from Petaluma High School in 1960 and was a member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA). In 1963, he married Diana V. Cardoza. Together, they raised three sons: George, James, and Peter D.
Peter is survived by his wife, Diana V.; son George, his wife Diane, and their children Joe (wife Ashley), Kyle (wife Rebecca, son Holden), and Nathanial (wife Alecia, son Emmett); son James and his son Wyatt; son Peter D., his wife Jenny, and their daughters Aimie and Kimberlie; and his sister Deana McDonald and her husband Bill. He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Alma Bussmann, brother Andrew Bussmann, and brother Fred Bussmann and his wife Cathy.
Peter was a member of the Native Sons of the Golden West, Petaluma/Nicasio Parlor, since 1964. His career began at Sebastopol Meat Company and Rancho Meat before moving his family to Orland, CA. In 1979, they moved to Sixes, Oregon, where Peter pursued ranching and became known as a rancher and livestock dealer, attending livestock auctions weekly. Peter's presence will be missed by many.
Rest in peace, Peter. Your legacy endures through your sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren you leave behind.
