Peter John Harrison, age 47, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home with his wife by his side on September 30, 2025 from a pulmonary embolism.

He was born on April 4, 1978 to John and Susan Harrison. Peter was a lifelong resident of Hudson and graduated from Hudson High School in 1996.

He married the love of his life, Erin, on April 26, 2003. They started dating in high school, participated in high school and college band together, and both graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 2000. His undergraduate degree was in Chemistry. They have three children, Olivia (19), Isaac (17), and Elliot (14).

Peter was a chemist at 3M for 26 years. During his career, he completed a Master’s degree from Lehigh University in Polymer Science and Engineering.

Peter had a variety of interests including fishing, hiking with his family, feeding the neighborhood birds, woodworking, listening to all genres of music, and he especially enjoyed playing the trombone. He was a loyal fan of the Minnesota Twins, Green Bay Packers, and enjoyed attending the River Falls Fighting Fish baseball games.

Peter cherished time with his family spending countless hours watching Olivia play softball, taking Isaac to karate practice and watching him achieve belt promotions all the way up to second degree black belt, and playing cards and board games with Elliot. He loved watching his children perform in all of their band performances. He was also a volunteer for his boys’ confirmation classes at Bethel Lutheran Church.

Over the years, Peter ran several half and full marathons including Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth and the Big Sur in California. He joined his sister Becca to run several Brewer’s Half Marathons in Milwaukee.

Peter and his wife Erin had the most special bond. He proposed on his birthday in 2002 and they were married the following year. They were connected in every way. They had a daily digital Scrabble battle (which Peter won most of the time) and enjoyed spending their days together. He was always the one to round up the family to go get ice cream and most recently started adding to his childhood Hot Wheels collection by picking up a new car on Target trips.

He was able to fix almost anything and was always willing to help out family, friends, and neighbors. Peter’s warmth, kindness, smile and quick wit will be missed immensely.

He is survived by his wife Erin; children Olivia, Isaac, and Elliot; mom Susan; sisters Becca Harrison & Jaime (Brad) Runeberg; sister-in-law Krista Swanson, brother-in-law Nathan Elrod, mother-in-law Kathy Elrod; grandma-in-law Genesse Brommer; nieces & nephews and many close friends and colleagues. He is preceded in death by his dad, John and grandparents, Ed & Ruth Lackner and Pete & Ethel Harrison.

Visitation will be at O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Funeral Service at Bethel Lutheran Church - Downtown Campus, 920 3rd St. in Hudson on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 11 a.m. with a one-hour visitation prior to the service. Urn Placement will be held immediately after the funeral service at Bethel Lutheran Church Columbarium at the Highlands Campus, 504 Frontage Road, Hudson followed by a lunch gathering.
