Peter Irish Obituary

Published by D'Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall on Sep. 10, 2021.
Peter Edward Irish passed away peacefully on September 10, 2021 following a brief illness. He was 73. He is survived by his loving wife Patty Irish. The oldest of five, he is also survived by his youngest sister Peggy Spatz (Kip Oldacre), nephew/Godson Jonathan Spatz, nieces Jennifer Spatz and Jennifer Booth, and five wonderful cousins. Peter joins his late brothers Michael and John Irish, and sister Patricia Irish, in heaven. Peter was born March 15, 1948 to the late Marie & William Joseph Irish of Haddonfield, NJ. A hardworking and determined business man, Peter was supported by his first wife Joanne and was blessed with three children Heather Mott (Edward), Ryan Irish (Megan), and Lindsay Irish Desarno (John). He was the proud grandfather to Katy, Aidan, Aran, Charlie, Maggie, Will, Tristan, Brendan, Jack, Billy, Maura, Maeve, George, Sophia, and Patrick. Upon his marriage to Patty, he gained two more children, Michael Koblensky (Dean) and Kelly Broadhurst (Matt) who brought the joy of four more granddaughters Hannah, Olivia, April, and Emily. Peter's family is very proud of his accomplishments in the automobile industry. Starting in Robesonia with Peter Irish Pontiac Cadillac, he acquired Eissler Pontiac in Media, PA, which later became Granite Run Pontiac Buick GMC, eventually ranking in Top Ten east coast dealerships. Peter was a committed congregant of the Catholic Church and an impassioned member of his community. He was a longtime member of the Rotary Club and Friendly Sons of St. Patrick in Media, PA. He filled his later days with bustling activities as a member of Applebrook Golf Club, The Union League of Philadelphia and Union League National Golf Club. He was a member of Club Pelican Bay in Naples, FL where he served on the Board of Governors as a member of the Finance Committee and Chair of the Course & Greens Committee. High spirited, proud, with a big personality and a kind giving heart, he touched the lives far beyond those in his immediate family. Peter loved meeting people and he never forgot a name. He considered all friends (old and new) to be his family, from Malvern PA to Avalon NJ to Naples FL, often referred to as "Uncle Pete." He encouraged everyone he loved to work hard, play hard, be strong, be kind and always keep a sense of humor. He was a fanatical Philadelphia sports fan. Upon retirement, he mostly loved watching his grandchildren play sports as well as spending time on the golf course and on his boat with Patty, friends and family. He will be deeply missed but his vibrant legacy will continue to grow as his memory is celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Thursday, Sept. 30th; ALL IN CHURCH; 10:00 a.m. -12:15 p.m. followed by his Mass of Christian Burial 12:30 p.m. at St. Norbert's Church 50 Leopard Road Paoli, PA 19301. Peter was the best grandfather anyone could wish for! He made Donald Duck noises and took me places, sent me cards, and loved me unconditionally. We met Peter a few years back on his first visit to meet Patty's family at the annual reunion. He won us all over with his charm, an endless smile, and yes, that voice. We all fell in love with Peter and that larger than life personally. I've said this before. If he wanted you to like him, you were defenseless. He was "that guy" who could walk into a room who had that something special that made people take notice. It was just a few weeks ago that we were planning to vacation with Patty and Peter in Avalon and somehow we are now planning to attend his services. Such an awful loss and trust me, Patty's family shares the heartbreak of his passing. We will miss him and keep the memories of time shared close to our hearts.
