Peter E. Johnson of South Hampton, NH, formerly of Lexington and Groton, MA passed away on January 19, 2026.
Peter grew up in Lexington MA, where he cultivated his many lifelong friends, met and married his wife of 53 years, the former Linda Schwartz. Peter attended Wentworth Institute after graduation and then ran the family contracting business in Lexington eventually moving to Groton, MA. Building a successful business there Peter excelled as a craftsman and Construction Supervisor. After retirement, Peter and Linda bought a horse farm in South Hampton, NH. Although not a horseman himself, Peter became a gentleman farmer, enjoying the many animals at the farm. Goats, dogs, cats, chickens and 2 bulls. He even became an amateur ornithologist enjoying the many birds who frequented the farm.
Peter enjoyed many hobbies. He was an avid golfer, a longtime member of Nabnasset Lake Country Club in Westford, MA. He was a founding member of a private golf league known as the BGA (Basic Golfers Association) now in its 45th year. Peter enjoyed softball, playing in Lexington with the Too High Softball Team. He was an avid saltwater fisherman. He loved most any activity that included gathering with his extended family and many friends.
Beloved husband of Linda (Schwartz) Johnson for 53 years. Son of the late Walter and Mildred Johnson of Lexington; loving father of Sabina Macy and her husband, Kevin of Stuttgart, Germany; Jason Johnson and his wife, Ginger of Escondido, CA; grandfather of 8, great grandfather of 5 and many nieces and nephews. Devoted brother to Linda Colby and her husband, David of Newton, NH; Amy Sbordone and her husband, Alexander of Newton, MA; Louise Greene and her husband, Bruce of Newton, NH; James Johnson and his wife, Phyllis of Rockland, MA; Walter Johnson and his wife, Brenda of Raymond, NH and the late Christopher Johnson.
SERVICES: There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be forthcoming at a later date.
