Peter Kobal, 74, of Tomko Avenue, Hanover Township, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2025.
Born in Hanover Township, he was the son of the late Peter and Evelyn (Witinski) Kobal. A proud graduate of Hanover High School, Peter went on to serve his country with honor in both the United States Marine Corps and later in the U.S. Army. He was a proud member of the American Legion. After his military service, Peter was employed by Tobyhanna Army Depot, where he worked as a metal coating technician until his retirement.
Peter was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joanne Kobal, in 2015; and by his brother, Timothy, in 2022.
He is survived by his loving children: Brian Ford, of Swoyersville; and Melissa Kobal, of Hanover Township; his cherished grandchildren: Celeste, Olivia, Josh, Abigail and Dietrich; and great-grandchildren: Layla, Amir and Arayna. Peter is also survived by nine siblings: John Kobal, Marilyn Savina, Judy Yodsnukis, Evelyn Humanik, Daniel, Michael, Nicholas, Dale and Eugene Kobal; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Peter was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life — he found joy in hunting and fishing, enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino, and was a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
