Peter Malits

The final boarding call for our Captain Peter Malits, whose flight to the great beyond took off from Port Saint Lucie, Florida on March 3rd, 2024. Our Captain was 66 years young when he decided to wing his way to his ultimate destination.
Born in Manhattan on October 19, 1957, Peter soared through life and navigated a thirty-five-year career in the airline industry with altitude and attitude that made us all look up.
Peter will be leaving his ground crew behind: Parents, Edmund and Irmgard Malits; his co-captain in life, wife Marcia Malits; his trusty flight engineers, brothers Erich Malits (Kim), Ron Malits (Paula), Rich Malits (Karen), his junior aviators, Jackie Buckhalter, Amanda Cooper, Kili Malits, and Peter Malits, will continue to fly in formation, honoring his legacy. Let us not forget his cabin crew of grandkids, Jazmyn Smith, Jaide & Justis Humes, Donovan Johnson, Summer & Damien Cooper, Christian, Angelina, Shianne & Xavier Baquerizo, Breydon Malits who will miss the in-flight entertainment only Grandpa could provide.
Peter was a man who could navigate life's turbulence with a laugh and smile that could light up the control tower. Peter found joy not just in the wild blue yonder, but in the green of the fields, the thrill of sports, the sound of good music, the roar of planes at an airshow. His heart was a compass, and it always pointed to fun.
As we send off Peter on his final solo flight, we will remember his spirit that never met a "no-fly" zone. His tales will be the wind beneath our wings, and his humor of jet fuel in our hearts. May the skies be clear, and the landings soft. We are cleared for takeoff, Captain Pete – fly high!
