Peter Manion Obituary

Peter William Manion
11/20/1948 - 12/17/2024
On December 17, 2024, Peter William Manion, our beloved uncle, brother, husband and friend passed away peacefully after a long, hard fought battle with cancer in San Francisco, CA, surrounded by family. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
Peter was born in Seattle, Washington on November 20th, 1948 to the late William and Marilyn Manion.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Lana Manion; his rescue German Shepard, Kally; his sister, Julianne McGovern and her husband, Don McGovern of Belmont, CA; his brother, Tim Manion of Woodinville, WA; his cousin Jeff Collum of Port Townsend, WA; his cousin Steve Manion of Sultan, WA; his nephew, Donnie McGovern and his wife, Jamie McGovern of Martinez, CA; his nephew, Dennis McGovern and his wife, Danielle McGovern of East Hampton, NY; his nephew, Conor Manion of San Diego, CA; and his niece, Meagan Manion of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by his great nieces Savannah and Sloane McGovern; great nephews Coen McGovern, Hayes McGovern and great niece Romy McGovern; great nephew Cayden Manion and great niece Madelyn Manion.
A proud Political Science graduate with honors from the University of California at Santa Barbara (1971). Peter was labeled early on in his career as aggressive, enthusiastic and one that did his homework. Peter represented what was the largest growing union in the United States at the age of 23. From there, he attended law school and graduated with honors from the University of San Francisco (1980). His life's work became law and upholding our constitution. There was no bigger thrill for Peter than seeing his clients, family or friends in the 'Catbird seat'. Peter loved politics, fine dining, his beloved city by the bay and learning about the latest advancements in technology.
We will miss his infectious laugh and take comfort knowing he is reunited with his parents and surrounded by his beloved dogs Clancy, Cyrus, Sparky, Scooby and Alfie. Sincerest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at UCSF for their world class care and compassion that was on display daily for Peter and our family. In lieu of flowers, Donations in Peter's name can be made to causes he championed. PALS Haven or Animal Friends Connection Humane Society of Lodi, CA.

Peter was so much fun to work with, I sold several properties way back years ago and loved working with Peter and his wife. He was a Character and I enjoyed them both and loved working with them. RIP Peter you will be missed. Jim Kietzke
