Peter Mol, 94, of Aurelia formerly of Sioux Center, IA, died Monday, December 9, 2024, at Accura Healthcare of Aurelia, Iowa.
A funeral service for family and friends will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 1:30 PM at the Centerpoint Church of Sioux Center. Interment with military honors will follow the funeral service in in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the Mol family prefers memorials to Words of Hope.
Peter Kenneth Mol was born January 30, 1930, on a farm near Sioux Center, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Gertie (Proper) Mol. He grew up on the family farm with his four siblings attended Country School and Sioux Center High School.
Peter enlisted in the United States Army in September of 1953 until his honorable discharge in September of 1955 from Ft. Hamilton, New York.
He was united in marriage to Bertha Achterhoff on November 9, 1955, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley, Iowa. To this union, four children were born. Peter and Bertha made their home on an acreage northeast of Sioux Center. He farmed until the early 1970’s and then held various forms of employment until retiring from Sioux-Preme Packing Co. They moved off the acreage in May of 2010, to the New Homestead in Sioux Center, before entering Accura Healthcare of Aurelia in February of 2022.
A memorable moment in Peter’s life was his trip with the Midwest Honor Flight in September of 2019. He enjoyed reading and studying the Bible, puttering around outside, and listening to Christian music. His family will miss him dearly.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 69 years, Bertha; children, Jeanne Jackson of Cherokee, IA, Carl (Janet) Mol of Burnsville, MN, Linda (Gene) McCallum of College Station, TX, and Ken (Stacy) Mol of Spencer, IA; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Angeline (Marion) Boersma of Gresham, OR; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gertie; siblings, Neal (Grace) Mol, Kathryn (Francis) Medema, Elberta (Henry) Swaagman and grandson, Cody McCallum.
