Peter Timothy O'Hehir, 68, unexpectedly passed away on May 5, 2025, in Wood Dale, Illinois.
Peter is survived by his siblings Danny (Sue) O’Hehir, Mary (Rich) Wiecek, Sean (Michelle) O’Hehir, Suzanne (Art) Estoque, Nicky O’Hehir, and Brian (Gina) O’Hehir; his beloved Auntie Julia Fegan; twelve nieces and nephews; seven great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as many cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Timothy and Susan O’Hehir (née Fegan).
Born on November 25, 1956, Peter was raised in Chicago’s Dunham Park neighborhood and attended St. Robert Bellarmine School. He began his career in 1984 as a journeyman electrician and was a proud union member of Local 134 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was also a partner in a successful catering company, Tailgators, which gave him the opportunity to work on the rooftops at Wrigley Field alongside family and friends.
Peter loved to travel, especially to Ireland to visit loved ones. In retirement, he enjoyed golf, gardening, and most of all, spending time with his family.
Lovingly known as “Uncle Timmy”—whether he was your uncle or not—Peter was the best kind of uncle and great-uncle: always cheering from the sidelines, employing nearly all his nieces and nephews (and many of their friends) at Tailgators, and teaching them important life lessons—like how to play poker.
To say he will be missed is an understatement; his presence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation Friday, May 9th from 3:00-8:00p.m. and Saturday May 10th from 8:00 until time of Funeral 9:30a.m. at The Oaks Funeral Home 1201 E Irving Park Rd (at Prospect), Itasca. Funeral Mass at 10:00am at Holy Ghost Church in Wood Dale. Interment private.
