Raymond Schmidt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Geils Funeral Home - Bensensville on Dec. 13, 2025.
Raymond F. Schmidt, born on May 19, 1937, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, at his home in Itasca, Illinois, at the age of 88.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Amanda (Tasche) Schmidt; his beloved wife, Maraldine (Schoo) Schmidt; and his sister, Elvira (Schmidt) Johnson.
He is survived by his three children, who loved him dearly: Joleen (Mark) Dunn, Joy Pressley (Chris Fitzgerald), and Ryan (Amy) Schmidt.
He was a proud grandfather of eight: Morgan Dunn Maher (Matthew Maher), Eric Dunn, Kyle Pressley, Justin Pressley, Jamie Pressley, Ashley Schmidt, Brett Dunn, and Taylor Schmidt. Raymond is also survived by his brother, Donald (Peggy) Schmidt, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Raymond was a hardworking and devoted family man. He spent many years as the owner of multiple auto repair facilities in Bensenville, Illinois, beginning with Arco and then Bensenville Tire and Auto. Later, he operated Medinah Automotive in Medinah, Illinois with his son, Ryan. Through his dedication, skill, and strong work ethic, he built a respected presence in the community and lasting relationships with countless customers and friends.
He also owned a family resort in Hayward, Wisconsin, where he and his family spent many cherished summers working together, creating memories, and welcoming returning guests year after year.
In his younger years, Raymond loved adventure and the outdoors. He enjoyed flying and owning his own airplane, often flying his family to and from Hayward, Wisconsin. He also loved boating, snowmobiling, and celebrating special events surrounded by his family. These moments of joy, activity, and togetherness shaped many treasured family traditions.
Raymond is now reunited with his beloved wife, Maraldine, bringing peace and comfort to those who mourn his passing.
