Peter “Pete” Lenn Parry, 64, passed away on August 20, 2025, at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich, NY.

Pete was born and raised in New Berlin, NY, the son of Gordon and Erma (Gage) Parry. He grew up on the family farm, where he learned the values of hard work that stayed with him throughout his life.

He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia.

Pete is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Lisa) Parry, and daughter, Christina (Robert) Hendrickson; grandchildren, Brynne, Maegan, and Carter Parry, Aliya (Kajahl) Marisin, and Caleb and Joshua Hendrickson; as well as many other loved ones and special someone, Molly Smyth.

Pete worked in the automotive industry for most of his adult life. There weren’t too many things about car parts—especially Fords—that he couldn’t tell you, and over the years he earned awards for his knowledge and dedication to the trade.

He was a social butterfly who enjoyed a good laugh, a quick joke, and conversation with a cigarette in his hand or a cold beer on a hot day. He loved boxing, wrestling, classic rock, and especially his Ford Mustang. He was also known for his fiery temperament, but those who spent time with him knew it was just one side of a personality that was lively, fun, and unapologetically his own. Pete will be remembered as a good man with a big presence who left an impression wherever he went.

Arrangements are being handled by Dakin Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on August 28, 2025, at 3 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in New Berlin, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pete’s memory to the International Boxing Hall of Fame, 360 N. Peterboro St., Canastota, NY 13032.
