Peter J. Petito Sr.

Peter J. Petito Sr. ("Pete"), 67, of Netcong, New Jersey, passed away on March 29, 2026, at Morristown Medical Center after a courageous battle with liver cancer. He was born on February 26, 1959, in Newark, New Jersey, to Judith Petito and the late Anthony Petito.

Quiet by nature and humble in spirit, Pete was a true jack of all trades. He worked for many years in landscaping and groundskeeping, taking pride in his work, and had a special talent for restoring furniture-bringing new life to wellworn pieces with patience and care. He enjoyed life's simple pleasures, including oldies music, scratchoffs, trips to the casino, and time spent with those he loved.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, laughing with his siblings, and relaxing at his moms while enjoying her restaurant style cooking for him from steak and eggs to cabbage pie.

Above all else, he adored his grandchildren, who brought him endless happiness and purpose. They were his pride and joy, and each held a special place in his heart. Though time and distance sometimes stood in the way, his love for all of his grandchildren was constant and unwavering.

Pete is survived by his mother, Judith Petito; his life partner, Bernadine Rea; his children: William Petito (Allison), Peter Petito Jr. (Bonnie Adelmann), Thomas Petito (Cheryl), and Jennifer Handlin (Richard); and his beloved grandchildren: Hadley, Samantha, Ryker, Willow, Grayson, and Henry.

He is also survived by his siblings: Joyce Beston (Bill), Victoria "Vicki" DeMunno, Angelo Petito (Cheryl Hoffman), Carol Biederwolf (Shawn), and Michael Petito (Christine Aemisegeo), along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pete was predeceased by his wife, Gloria Petito; his father, Anthony Petito Sr.; and his brother, Anthony Petito Jr. as well as many other close relatives.

He will be remembered for his quiet strength, remarkable skill, and the care he put into everything he touched.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 3rd, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Par Troy Funeral Home, 95 Parsippany Road, Parsippany, New Jersey.

A small ceremony followed by burial will take place on Saturday, April 4th, at 11:00 a.m. at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, New Jersey. All who wish to attend are welcome.
