Peter Piazza Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Monreal Srnick Funerals & Cremations on Jan. 20, 2026.
Peter T. Piazza, age 85, unexpectedly passed away on January 18, 2026. He was born on October 18, 1940 in Cleveland, OH to the late Thomas and Charlotte Piazza.

Peter was the loving father of Brian T. Piazza (Angie) and David T. Piazza (Maureen); proud grandfather of Gabriella, Isabella, Alex, and Brent Piazza; a caring brother of Bob Piazza (Brenda), and the late Tom Piazza; brother-in-law of Pat Piazza; and cherished uncle of many more.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife Ellie Piazza (nee Sheedy).

Peter was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, who loved his country deeply. His Catholic faith was of great importance to him. Peter was a lifelong Catholic and devoted much of his life to sharing his faith with others. For 8 years, he taught Catholic religion at St. Gabriel's and an additional 8 years in San Diego, where he touched many lives through his dedication and kindness. He also gave back to those in need by volunteering at the VA for several years feeding the veterans, an experience he cherished deeply.

Peter had a profound love for his family, but especially his cherished grandchildren. As family became his priority, he returned home to Cleveland to be closer to them. He took immense joy in attending all of his grandchildren's sporting events, and in time led to Peter becoming a big fan of Kirtland football, in which he attended many games over the years.

Known for his warm heart and genuine nature, Peter always put others before himself and would help anyone who asked. In addition, he loved "swapping stories and telling lies" with friends and family. Peter was a master storyteller. He was known by many as a compassionate listener who had a unique ability to connect with people, caring deeply about their thoughts and experiences.

Peter was also a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 38 years. In his downtime, he enjoyed many hobbies, including any challenge that kept his mind sharp, particularly puzzle games. Lastly, Peter was known to love listening to music and shared that love with others he knew. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Monreal Srnick Funerals & Cremations 35400 Curtis Blvd. Eastlake, OH 44095. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30am on Friday, January 23, 2026 at St John Vianney Parish, 7575 Bellflower Road Mentor, Ohio 44060.

I´ve only known Peter for a few years however, he was a funny and good person to be around. Always had good stories to share of the good old days growing up in Cleveland. I will miss him a lot.

Peter was a wonderful human being, always there to listen and help his fellow bother or sister. He became a best friend to me. I truly love the man I matter here or in heaven. He became part of my family and was very special to my kids, especially my autistic son Sean. Sean loved the stories and many laughs they shared together. My love and friendship is vast and I cannot list them all as there was so many ways that he touched my heart and soul.
He was the most giving person of himself and I will truly miss him unlike anyone. As a cop in Cleveland I patrolled the area he grew up in and we took a drive down there when the criminals were still sleeping and he shared stories about his history and knowledge of growing up there and I shared mine and how the neighborhood drastically changed. That day was special and one of many memories I´ll never forget. I was honored to call him my dear friend and part of my family.
Even in heaven he is going to be one of a kind.
Peter, I love you my friend more than words can describe. You´re home brother. We´ll catch up and can´t wait to hear more stories.

Your friend always,

Kevin Grady
