Peter A. Quaranto

Mr. Peter A. Quaranto, of Waltham, died Monday, May 22, 2023 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 80.

Peter Anthony Quaranto was born November 19, 1942 in Waltham a son of the late John and Theresa (Sorabella) Quaranto. A graduate of Waltham High School he then honorably served with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

He worked over thirty-five years for the City of Newton as a supervisor in its forestry division before retiring.

A proud veteran he was a longtime member of American Legion Nonantum Post 440 in Newton, a lifetime member of VFW #10334 Sullivan Post and the Disabled American Veterans. Peter was a faithful follower of the New England sports teams, and was well regarded as 'Coach Q' in the North Waltham Little League and Pop Warner leagues in earlier years. He loved bowling and trips to Maine to Old Orchard Beach.

He will be lovingly remembered for many of his sayings, most of which was 'Love you....be careful...and have a good day!'

Beloved husband to Elaine M. (Secord) Quaranto he leaves his children, Michael A. Quaranto (Corrie) of Belmore, New York and Lori Flores (Luis) of Waltham; grandfather of Gianna, Luis and Alex Flores and Mia and Brynn Quaranto; brother of Concetta 'Connie' Murphy, Bonnie Thibodeau, both of Waltham and the late John 'Gus' Quaranto; also survived by nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Peter's life by gathering for calling hours on Thursday, May 25th from 4 to 7 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Route 20), Waltham and again at 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
