Peter Sbarra Obituary
On June 6, 2025, of Washington Twp. Age 99. Beloved husband of the late Rose (nee Raimo). Devoted father of Louis M. Sbarra (Deborah), and Angela R. Sbarra. Loving grandfather of Laura D'Imperio (Ryan), Nicholas Sbarra (Ashley), Joseph Sbarra (Josh), and Richard Sbarra (Jessica). Proud great grandfather of Francesca D'Imperio, Ryan D'Imperio, Auriella D'Imperio, Elliana Sbarra and Olivia Sbarra. Dear brother of Louis A. Sbarra, Jr., and the late Marie Marra and Anthony Sbarra.
Peter graduated from South Philadelphia High School in 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy after graduation and served until 1946. He met his love, Rose (Raimo) and they got married in 1950. Peter and Rose started their family and welcomed two children, Louis, born 11/4/1952 and Angela, born 12/7/1957.
He was employed by Philco, now the Ford Motor Company from 1943-1993. This included his three-year leave of absence, to serve his country. Peter was always an outstanding athlete, especially in baseball and football. He was a beloved baseball coach and very well respected in the South Philadelphia Optimist Organization.
Peter loved spending time with his family on vacations to Wildwood and on picnics at Palatine Lake in Elmer, NJ.
Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thursday 8:30 – 10:30 am at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am, SS. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church. Interment Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
In honor of Peter's life, in lieu of flowers or other acts of sympathy, his family would encourage any donations to Tri State Veterans Memorial Fund.

In recognition of your accomplishments as member of the U.S. Navy serving in the South Pacific, engaging in the Battle of Okinawa, for defeating two enemy fleets at once receiving their surrenders only four months apart. Thenceforth, armed on a battleship in the Sea of Japan as the Enola Gay dropped a dose of freedom on the enemy of Japan; for these acts of courage and valor "WE THE PEOPLE" would like to honor you for your gallant dedication to our country, the United Sated of America.

Papa Pete and his wife of 25 years Marie, (not mentioned in his obituary) were a part of our lives for years. We are so happy they are reunited in heaven.

I don´t know this amazing man but want to offer my condolences to his family. Mr. Sbarra was a true American, serving his country in WW2. We are losing these faithful brave heroes of the Greatest Generation. Mr. Sbarra..God bless you for your service. I know choirs of angels accompanied you to your heavenly award.
