My life was changed because of Pete. There was a commonality immediately as we both were born on 16 June. He took me hunting for my first time, with his son Scott. We spent years fishing and hanging out at his hunting cabin. We were all pretty young and he was mentoring all of Scott's friends whether he knew it or not. I was a pretty immature in those days with no direction. Then I decided to join the Navy, and the best advice he ever gave me, was don't get out! Stay in till you are eligible to retire. I retired as a Chief Petty Officer, Hospital Corpsman. The Navy made me who I am, and gave me the life I have today. That would have never happened if it were not for Pete. Every time I thought about leaving I heard his words. Thank you brother, and Fair Winds and Following Seas, we have the watch!

A sailor has passed away today. Peter, you are now relieved from your watch. A job well done fellow navy veteran. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom and democracy. The carrier has turned into the wind preparing for your final departure. The plank is in place and honor guards are stationed. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation´s defender. Smooth sailing shipmate. A Navy Vietnam Veteran.
