Peter B. Van Egmond

Our hearts are troubled and saddened by the sudden passing of Peter Bertus Van Egmond on January 29, 2026, at his home in Cottageville, at the too-young age of 49. Peter was born on February 13, 1976, and was a beloved son, brother, and soulmate whose joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Peter was the love and northern star in the life of Dawn Register, his devoted soulmate of the past nine years. He was the cherished brother of Dwayne Van Egmond, Lisa (Nick) Hoekstra, Kimberley Van Egmond, and Thomas (Jennie) Van Egmond. Beloved uncle to Riley, Abby, and Ashton. Treasured friend to many. Peter was predeceased by his loving parents, Peter and Anne Van Egmond.

Peter took great pride in his work with his team at Low Country Pest Control of Walterboro, where his kindness, humour, and dedication earned the affection of both customers and colleagues.

Known for his genuine interest in others and connecting with people, Peter thrived in all job positions he held just by being himself. Peter was currently employed with Low Country Pest Control, where he is described to have been an integral part of the team and truly brought a spirit and form of dedication that will be sorely missed by his work family and his beloved customers.

Peter had a passion for photography along with being a true Toronto Maple Leafs and David Matthews Band fan. Alongside his many passions, Peter’s heartfelt patriotism and love for his country shone brightly in everything he did. Peter brought passion and enthusiasm into everything he did—whether cheering on his team or spending time with those he loved, including his cherished fur babies.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Low Country Pest Control of Walterboro, located at 705 North Jeffries Blvd, Walterboro, SC 29488. Family, friends, and all those whose lives Peter touched are warmly invited to come together in remembrance and celebration of his remarkable life.
