Obituary of Peter Jergens Watson
Peter Jergens Watson, 74, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023 with his loving wife by his side. He was born on November 23, 1948 in Hartford, CT to Elmer Ellsworth "Doc" and Margaret (Jergens) Watson.
He graduated from South Windsor High School. He was an Aircraft Master Electrician in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. Peter studied tool design engineering at Hartford State Technical College. There was nothing that Peter could not make, fix or repair.
Peter was a career Corporate Pilot flying jets and helicopters for the corporate office of United Technology Corporation (UTC).
He was a member of ELKS Lodge 2710, the American Legion, served on multiple Charlotte County MSBU Boards and the past HOA President of South Gulf Cove.
He truly enjoyed being an active remote airplane pilot. Peter held multiple titles of Connecticut State pistol shooting champion during the 1970's and was a champion level trap and skeet shooter. He even found time to play an occasional round of golf.
Survivors include his loving wife Tamara, sisters; Janet Watson Scheible of Plano, TX, Elaine Schenot of North Carolina, Carolyn Watson-Peters of Massachusetts, brothers; David Watson of Sneads Ferry, NC and Rusty Watson of Connecticut. Stepson; Allan Merriweather of Orlando and stepdaughter; Erin Rawcliffe and her husband Jim. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Brett and Lia Merriweather and James Rawcliffe.
Peter was a wonderful, honest, loving man. His light shined for many to follow. He will be truly missed.
Peter will be laid to rest on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Sarasota National VA Cemetery with Air Force Honors.
