Helen Watson (née Del Sordo), 90, born and lifelong resident of Nutley, passed away on February 1, 2026.

Helen was born on July 10, 1935, in a house on New Street that her father, Ralph Del Sordo, an immigrant and skilled carpenter from Italy, had built by hand. She attended Nutley schools, graduated from Nutley High School as Valedictorian with a perfect grade, and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She briefly worked as a Patent Clerk at ITT and, after starting a family, worked for and retired at 75 as a bookkeeper at R.K. Hughes Company, formerly in Nutley. She was a devout Roman Catholic, a member of the Holy Family Rosary Society and choir at Holy Family, and a New Jersey Notary Public. Helen was the fifth of seven children of Ralph and Rose (Travisano) Del Sordo, who were matched up as young adults as was customary in the old country. Predeceased by her husband, Ronald Watson, Helen is survived by her children, Laura Watson and Ronald Grant Watson, and his wife, Ilinka, and her grandchildren, Nicole and Adam Grant Watson. She was the dear sister of Eugene Del Sordo, and of her predeceased siblings Rocco Del Sordo, Chiarina Parisi, Marie Meyers, Yolanda Howarth, and Dolores Moles.

Visitors will be welcomed at the funeral home, S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley, on Friday, February 6, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm.

For those who wish to, please join the Funeral Procession from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 9:30 am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 28 Brookline Ave, Nutley, NJ, at 10:30 am, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery, 28 Hoover Ave, Bloomfield, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org)
