Peter Lawrence Wolf

Peter Lawrence Wolf, 83, passed away on March 16, 2026. A man of steady faith, intellect, and a heart for service, Peter leaves behind a legacy of hard work and a profound devotion to his family.

Born on May 14, 1942, in Freeport, New York, Peter was the son of the late Fred Wolf and Marion Raffaeli Wolf of Merrick, New York. He was raised on Long Island alongside his brother, Fred Wolf. A dedicated student, Peter graduated from Cornell University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics. His personal convictions later led him to study at Faith Seminary in Pennsylvania from 1968 to 1970.

Peter was known for his industrious spirit and his genuine desire to be of help to others. During his years at the Kmart in Franklin, he became a familiar and friendly face to many, truly enjoying his daily interactions with customers. He also spent many years assisting his community with tax preparation, a testament to his sharp mind and helpful nature.

Beyond his professional life, Peter was a man of simple joys. An avid sports fan, he was most at home in the stands of an Asheville Tourists game, where he especially enjoyed watching one of his favorite players, Warren Schaeffer. He was also a dedicated fan of Colorado Rockies baseball, spending many happy hours following the game he loved.

Above all, Peter was a family man. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lyn Wolf, and his parents. Together, Peter and Lyn shared the life-changing journey of traveling to Russia to adopt their two children, Jenya and Sergei, providing them with a life full of love and opportunity.

Peter is survived by his daughter, Jenya Wolf; his son, Sergei Gubarev; and his brother, Fred Wolf. He will be remembered for his kind nature, his quiet, reliable presence, and the deep love he held for those closest to him.

A celebration of life will take place 2:00pm Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Eckerd Living Center in Highlands, North Carolina.
