Petra Rivera

Maria Petra Rivera, age 79, of Brady, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, surrounded by her family, at her residence in Brady. Petra was born on September 9, 1946, in Brady, Texas, to Nasario Moròn and Julia (Adame) Moròn. She grew up in Brady and graduated from Brady High School. She married Alex Rivera on February 19, 1982, in Brady, and she was very proud to have been married "Through the Church".

Petra was the "Hammer" of the family. She was a seamstress, a wonderful cook. She was known for her tortillas. She enjoyed shopping, dancing and when she was younger, she loved playing sports. She enjoyed watching the San Antonio Spurs, collecting Roosters, Milk Cows, and Santa Claus figurines. She loved to spend time with her family and watch her grandchildren participate in youth sports. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Brady. She has been a lifelong resident of Brady.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Maria Petra Rivera will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, March 21, 2026, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Brady. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm with the Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00pm at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady. Petra is survived by her loving husband of over 44 years, Alex Rivera; son Israel Reyes; daughter Alesia Evans and husband Scott and Crystal Rivera-Dodds and husband Colby; sisters Cresencia Moròn and Herlinda Murray; grandchildren Elijah Miller, Isiah Reyes, Alexander Evans, Tristan Evans, Petra Izabelle Rivera, Craig Dodds, and Cade Dodds; one great-granddaughter, Adelynn Reyes; several nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Virginia Galindo and Diamantina Villarreal and brothers Joe Moròn, Victor Moròn and Nasario Moròn, Jr.
